Have you ever walked into a boutique store with bad lighting, crappy music, and a weird smell? Feel like buying anything? Well the same goes with online stores - and that's why web design and UX (= User eXperience) is so important in the world of ecommerce. In addition to killer products and aw esome copywriting, an ecommerce site should have intuitive navigation, a straightforward checkout flow, and it needs to look amazing. All of which fall under the auspices of design.
 

Stores Built on Shopify

Shopify is an ecommerce platform that's well known among the design community. A lot of well known designers, like Jeffrey Zeldman and Tina Roth Eisenberg sell their wares via their software. With Shopify, online store owners (or their web designers) can customize templates from their theme store, or start from scratch in order to create some incredibly well-designed sites.
